manufactured 1857-58, with blued octagonal 3in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'F. BEALS PATENT' over patents to 1857, the top-strap signed 'MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION N.Y.', solid iron frame with external cylinder indexing pawl, smooth gutta-percha grip with moulded cap and white metal trigger-guard bow, strong traces of finish, in a competently produced wood case lined and compartmented in burgundy velvet and also containing a reproduction pocket flask, a reproduction cleaning rod and a possibly original brass double cavity mould
