A 40-BORE FLINTLOCK RIFLED TURN-OFF SASH-PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
French or Belgian circa 1750, with 3 1/2in. two-stage banded cannon barrel with period hand-cut rifling, octagonal breech with traces of engraved detail, solid top-tang, borderline engraved radiused lock with pointed tail, bridled frizzen, walnut half-stock with carved borders around the furniture and floral carving behind the top-tang, iron bulbous long-spurred butt-cap, silver rococo escutcheon to wrist, pillar-fronted iron trigger-guard bow, moulded iron side-plate and no provision for ramrod.
