for 1863, with 8in. round, sighted barrel signed 'ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', plain stepped cylinder roll engraved with a naval scene and stamped with an inspector's initial 'W', open iron frame marked 'COLT'S PATENT', cut-outs on recoil shield and heel for shoulder-stock, brass trigger guard stamped '.44 CAL', iron backstrap, smooth walnut grip with traces of a martial cartouche, minimal traces of original finish
