circa 1770, with turn-off multi-banded 5 5/8in. cannon barrel, the top of the moulded breech with a flourish of scroll engraving and 'LONDON', the underside with London proofs, 'R.W.' maker's mark and signed 'WILSON' below the pan, rounded border engraved action with iron hammer and frizzen, recumbent 'L' shaped frizzen-spring, smooth walnut hooked bag-shaped butt with swollen pommel, rococo carving around the top-tang, pierced rococo silver escutcheon and side-plate, grotesque mask short-tailed butt-cap (hallmarks present but obscured) and iron trigger guard bow
