Provenance: The Day Book which accompanies the Lot we are kindly informed is from Hammond Bros. It includes a wide variety of day to day information from till cash totals, accounts information, stock and price lists, client details and details of their orders, interests and 'wants', work or repairs to be carried out. Entries run from circa 1935 to 1946. It is interesting to note the changes in theme for entries from 1940-45, the majority relating to orders for or relating to, pistols and revolvers (and usually associated with ranking Officers in the British armed forces) or for 'larder-stocking' .22 rifles and air rifles. In 1944 a number of American Servicemen's details appear amongst the entries. Towards the rear of the book, a large list of orders for the War Office is pencilled in - and also a note stating 'WE ARE AGENTS FOR HARDY'S FISHING TACKLE'. The majority of the addresses listed are in the Hampshire area
