29in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (some pits, slightly shortened), the rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 607, carved foliate fences, gold pin cocking-indicators, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork (some wear), the makers name in scrolling banners, brushed finish, 14in. figured stock (refinished), weight 6lb 3oz.

Provenance: In Donald Dallas' excellent book on John Dickson & Son, this gun is listed as having been made as a 12-bore 'hammerless ejector double gun with 30in. barrels. The date of sale is listed as 9th September 1896
