A RARE AND UNUSUAL BONEHILL AND MATTHEWS 1880 PATENT LEVER-COCKING HAMMERLESS NON-EJECTOR GUN, serial no. 200,
circa 1885, 30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 1969), the rib engraved 'C.G. BONEHILL MAKER. 110 CANNON. ST. LONDON.' (rubbed), and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke, large frame treble-grip action incorporating C.G. Bonehill and W.J. Matthews lever cocking patent 1952 of 12th May 1880, use number 200, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators with gold-inlaid 'D' and 'L' details, acanthus scroll engraving, the makers name in a scrolling banner, the underside with a naive game scene vignette, bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/8in. figured stock (likely converted from semi-pistolgrip), including horn buttplate, bolstered fore-end with Deeley & Edge release catch and horn finial, small loss to left side edge, weight 7lb. 1oz.
