A SCARCE .177 BREAK-BARREL AIR-RIFLE, MODEL 'DEMON TYPE', serial no. 948,
circa 1930 and probably manufactured for Alex Martin by the Midland Gun Co., with blued round two-stage 18 3/4in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, elevating rear-sight, break-open breech with sprung detent latch, plain blued air-chamber signed 'ALEX MARTIN, FRIAR ST. STIRLING', radiused slab-sided trigger unit, walnut saw-handled chequered stained and varnished beech butt with plain iron heel-plate, trigger adjuster to front of guard and exposed cocking link with no provision for fore-end, much original finish remaining
