 A CASED 320-BORE PERCUSSION MINIATURE MUFF-PISTOL, no visible serial number, 
 possibly an apprentice piece circa 1835, with fully fluted reblued turn-off 7/8in. barrel starred at muzzle for key (absent), scroll engraved London proved central hammer action with concealed automatic trigger, 'WITTON DAW & CO' signature to top-strap and chequered ebony bag-shaped butt with white metal pin decoration to the chequer diamonds and heel, together with a later imitation tortoiseshell coloured leatherette case lined and compartmented in blue velvet for this pistol  
  
 Provenance: Witton Daw & Co. were formed in 1851, trading from 82 Broad Street and moving to 57 Threadneedle Street in 1852. The company changed its name to Witton & Daw in 1855. This pistol is of earlier style suggesting apprentice involvement.
