A PATTERN 1879 COMMON SOCKET 'LUNGER' BAYONET FOR THE MARTINI HENRY RIFLE, circa 1880s, with 21 3/4 in. plain triangular steel blade fullered on each side, 'WD' and inspection marks on ricasso, together with its black leather scabbard with 'WD' marked brass fittings, blade with some rust spots, socket dark with some pitting, scabbard worn with brass darkened and 'sold out of service' mark on frog stud, chape with some denting, 25 3/4 in. overall
