AN UNUSUAL NETHERLANDS MODEL 1895 BAYONET FOR THE MANNLICHER RIFLE CONVERTED TO A TRENCH FIGHTING KNIFE, World War One, with steel single-edged blade shortened to 6 in. with a ground point, marked 'HEMBRUG' on the ricasso with Dutch inspection mark over, muzzle socket ground off with remains of the original issue number visible on the cross-guard, wooden grips, steel pommel, together with its original black leather rivited one-piece scabbard and frog with issue numbers on the back of the frog cut down to fit the knife, a couple of chips in the grips, grip rivets rusted, some rust patches to the pommel, 123 3/4 in. overall
