A 1920-1940 JAPANESE "KYU-GUNTO" ARMY OFFICER'S SWORD, circa late 1930s, with 24 1/2 in. slightly curved single-edged nickelled steel blade with clipped point, fullered on each side, brass ricasso, guard and hilt back-strap decorated with chrysanthemums and foliage, press-stud scabbard release button, black leather grip, together with its nickelled steel scabbard with suspension loop, hilt with patches of tarnish, grip worn and missing wire binding, scabbard catch missing, scabbard rusted, 34 in. overall
