circa 1825, with round 3 1/4in. turn-off barrels (frozen), arcaded engraved bands and false rifling for a key at muzzles (key absent), Birmingham proofs, borderline and trophy engraved squared action with tap-lever and 'MAYES' signature to the left side and 'NORWICH' signature to the right, central ring-necked cock with sliding safe also locking the pan, walnut slab-sided butt and guarded trigger
