A PATTERN 1822 INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD circa 1840, with 32 1/2 in. slightly curved nickel-steel blade fullered on each side, etched both sides with Queen's crown and royal cypher with scroll-work, ricasso etched with 'HAMBURGER / ROGERS & Co. / 30 KINGS St / nr / COV. GARDEN / LONDON' with brass 'proved' plug over, brass Gothic hilt with folding guard and pierced Victoria monogram, black leather grips bound with copper wire. together with its brass scabbard with two suspension loops, blade with some edge nicks, slightly mis-shapen guard, scabbard with some denting, specially toward toe chape, drag worn, 39 in. overall
