A PICKET WEIGHT PATTERN 1822 INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, circa 1840, with 34 in. slightly curved nickel-steel blade 7/8 in. wide, fullered on each side, etched both sides with Queen's crown and royal cypher with scroll-work, ricasso etched with 'C. REEVES / 8 / AIR STRt. / PICCADILLY / LONDON' with brass 'proved' plug over, brass Gothic hilt with folding guard and pierced Victoria monogram, black fish-skin grip bound with copper wire. together with its brass scabbard with two suspension loops, mis-shapen guard, grip with wear and losses, scabbard with some shallow denting, 40 in. overall
