A PAIR OF EXTREMELY RARE GERMAN THIRD REICH ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROPAGANDA BOOKS ISSUED TO PRISONERS AT PoW CAMP STALAG XVIIB, early 1940s, being 'The Reich of the Fuhrer' by Johannes Ohquist, subtitled 'the origin and struggle the ideology and development of National Socialism as seen by a foreigner', 388pp, and 'Stalinism: Soviet Policy in the Second World War' by 'Vindex', 144pp, both with purple hand-stamp on the cover and inside title page 'STALAG XVIIB / 314 / GEPRUFT' [being the number of the camp censor; 'gepruft' = 'Inspected'], both 5 3/4 in. x 8 in., stained with wear, these books were produced specifically for PoWs and given their content and that they were made using very poor quality paper, very few have survived; Stalag XIIB was located at Gniekendorf, some 4 miles from Krems, and was the largest PoW camp in the Ostmark [Austria], holding prisoners from many nations, including USA flight personnel and was made famous by the 1953 film 'Stalag 17'
