 A MATCHED PAIR OF 12-BORE 'THE AUTOMATIC' SIDELOCK EJECTORS, serial no. 5314 / 5833, 
 for 1898 and 1904, 29in. nitro  Whitworth-steel chopperlump barrels (No.2 London reproved in 1985, slight movement on actions), ribs engraved 'JAMES WOODWARD & SONS. 64 ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', arcaded fences, removable striker discs, the No.1 action face with 'THE AUTOMATIC' trade mark, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, protruding tumbler pivots with gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, fine acanthus scroll engraving with the makers name in elaborate cartouches on the lockplates, retaining traces of colour-hardening and some renewed finish, 15 1/4in. well-figured replacement stocks, weight 6lb. 10oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 9oz. (No.2)

 Gun No. 5833 was completed on 7th November 1904 for Captain A. Annesley, and was built to match gun No. 5314 
  
 Captain Arthur Annesley b. 1880, was the eldest son of the 11th Viscount Valentia. Served in  the 10th Hussars and participated in the Boer War and the First World War where he was unfortunately killed early on on the 16th November 1914.
