Provenance: The vendor states: My Grandfather, Leonard Harris, was in the Royal Marines during WW2. When they were split off to Commando and Boat squadrons, he chose 'Boat' which effectively meant transport; be that a landing craft pilot or truck driver. At the end of WW2 there was a push to Kiel to prevent the Russians having a warm water port and scuttle any remaining U boats there. My grandfather was involved in 'T-force', which some Royal Marines were part of. and the knife was 'taken' from a surrendering German Soldier during this military action.
