A 50-BORE PERCUSSION PEPPERBOX REVOLVER SIGNED W. RICHARDS, LONDON, no visible serial number, in a later case,
the revolver circa 1840, with fully fluted six-shot 3 1/2in. barrel cluster, the flutes carved in imitation of side-ribs, each chamber numbered '1' through '6' respectively and with Birmingham proofs, moulded and rounded iron border and scroll engraved receiver with central bar hammer, the left side of action signed 'W. RICHARDS, LONDON', the right 'IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL', finely chequered walnut grip swelling at the iron mounted pommel with central engraved trap (containing spare nipples) and with guarded trigger, the iron surfaces darkly stained, complete with a brass bound walnut case adapted for this pistol with a compartmented and blue baize lined interior and a number of added accessories
