circa 1870, with blued octagonal 3 1/2in. barrel signed 'COGSWELL & HARRISON, STRAND, LONDON', engraved band at muzzle, crescent fore-sight, blued borderline-engraved solid frame marked 'W. TRANTER'S PATENT' together with the serial number on left side of barrel throat, cylinder rod frozen and damaged at tip, plain cylinder, spurred hammer and spur trigger, chequered walnut grip and shallow domed butt-cap, action at fault, finish with frosting and fading, in a burr walnut veneered English market case lined and compartmented in blue baize
