A RARE LARGE GEORGIAN MILITARY .56 (PISTOL BORE) 6-SHOT GANG-MOULD FOR ORDNANCE PISTOLS,
circa late 18th-early 19th Century, brass with iron hinge and jaw-guide, one arm and opposite jaw stamped 'XXVIII', both jaws also stamped 'No.28', 19in. length when closed
Provenance: such moulds were used for the multiple production of balls for regulation calibre .577 military service pistols, including Long Sea Service, Lancer's, Short Sea Service, Customs and Revenue, etc., where the ball was 'patched'
