A GROUP OF THREE FRENCH MODEL 1874 SWORD BAYONETS FOR THE GRAS RIFLE, dated 1878-80, with 20 1/2 in. single-edged blades, quillioned cross-guards, wooden grips and brass pommels, 1) blade back engraved for Tulle arsenal and dated 1878, forte and quillion with inspection marks, cross-guard numbered '96757' matched to scabbard, worn, blade stained with some blinded pitting, cross-guard and quillion with blinded pitting, release catch rusted and frozen, scabbard rusted and pitted; 2) blade back engraved for Chatellerault arsenal and dated 1879, forte with inspection marks, worn, quillion and cross-guard pained black and obscuring markings, pommel painted gold, no scabbard; 3) blade back engraved for Chatellerault arsenal and dated 1880, forte and quillion with inspection marks, numbered 48482, worn, blade with some pitting, cross-guard and quillion with heavy blinded pitting and rubbed markings, no scabbard (3)
