A BETTER VICTORIAN PATTERN 1822 LIGHT CAVALRY SWORD, circa mid-19th Century, with 35 in. single-edged slightly curved blade, floral etching on both sides together with crown and royal cypher, plus a phoenix over 'R. C. O.', ricasso with Wilkinson proved plug, steel hilt with wire-bound black fish-skin grip, brown leather sword knot, together with its brown leather field scabbard with steel chape and brown leather frog; blade stained, etching rubbed, hilt cleaned with no chequering on back-strap, grip worn with some small losses to the fish-skin, some grazing to the scabbard leather and rust spots to the chape; this appears to be a mid-century blade with a family crest and owner's initials with a restored or replacement hilt and an early 20th Century field scabbard
