A RARE PATTERN 1863 YATAGHAN SWORD BAYONET FOR THE WHITWORTH RIFLE. mid-1860s, with 23 in. single-edged blade fullered on each side, ricasso with Enfield inspection mark to one side and queen's crown above 'VR' over, further Enfield mark on blade back, quillioned cross-guard, black pressed leather grips, bird's head pommel, together with its black leather scabbard with steel fittings, worn, staining to blade, all exposed steel with blinded pitting, some deep, locket dented between throat and frog stud
