* A .577 PATTERN 1853 SPORTERISED ENFIELD RIFLE SIGNED TOWER, no visible serial number, dated 1862, with shortened 25 in. sighted barrel, Birmingham proof-marks, border-engraved lock with engraved crown plus '1862 / TOWER', brass trigger-guard and butt-plate, worn, steel scrubbed with blinded pitting, knocks and stains, stock varnished with oil staining, fore-end shortened, split behind lock, large glued split through the butt heel and holes where sling swivels have been removed, overall length 41 in.
