A 15.4mm DREYSE M54 NEEDLEFIRE BOLT-ACTION SERVICE RIFLE SIGNED SPANDAU, serial no. 1330,
dated for 1856 with 1861 modification overstamp, round, possibly shortened 30in. barrel, blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional large folding leaves, octagonal receiver marked variously 'I.M.D. 514', 'SPANDAU' with the eagle trademark (faint) and the dates, turn-bolt action with rear cocking piece, walnut three-quarter stock with iron furniture including two barrel bands and nose-cap, under-barrel iron clearing rod and unusual iron block below the muzzle (possibly originally a fore-end mount) surfaces lightly stained
