A PATTERN 1821 VICTORIAN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD FOR THE BRISTOL VOLUNTEER ARTILLERY, circa 1860, with 32 3/4 in. single-edged blade fullered on each side, etched with scroll-work and queen's crown and royal cypher to one side and 'BRISTOL / VOLUNTEER / ARTILLERY' and fieldgun over, ricasso marked 'GEo. GIBBS / BRISTOL / GUN & SWORD / MAKER', 3-barred guard, bound fishskin grip, with its steel scabbard with two suspension rings, blade crudely sharpened leaving grazes and removing the etching from the leading edge, hilt worn with rust and blinded pitting to the guard, scabbard dented with heavy blinded pitting
