BARRATT 12-BORE POWELL'S 1864 PATENT BAR-IN-WOOD LIFT-UP TOPLEVER ROTATING SINGLE BOLT SNAP-ACTION HAMMERGUN, serial no. 5174, circa 1870, 28in. black powder only damascus barrels (pitted), rib engraved 'W.B. BARRATT BURTON ON TRENT.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, action incorporating William Powell patent lift-up toplever, patent no. 1163 of 7th May 1864, use number 1420, carved percussion fences, broad strikers with Powell 1869 patent 'loaded' indicators, bar-in-wood, rebounding sidelocks with flat sided hammers, border engraving, 13 3/4in. figured stock with steel buttplate, weight 6lb. 9oz.
