circa 1890, with round 3 1/2in. barrel, moulded integral sighting rib signed 'SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASS PAT. * * * * NOV. 24. 63' (remainder obscured), crescent fore-sight, rear-sight to the lift-up barrel latch, break-open frame with automatic ejecting five-shot cylinder, the ejector-housing stamped with a 'bee' trademark, double action mechanism (slightly at fault), chequered hard rubber grips embossed with the 'S&W' trademark and square-backed trigger guard, fair amount of nickel-plated finish remaining
