A SWISS 14mm PERCUSSION SPORTING RIFLE, SIGNATURE OBSCURED, no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with octagonal twist damascus 30in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, elevating blade rear-sight, twin platinum lines and vented plug at breech, plain borderline engraved top-tang, borderline and gamescene engraved bar-action lock with traces of a 'GENEVA' signature (the whole rubbed), walnut half-stock with chequered wrist (old working repairs and inlets), carved cheek-piece, Swiss-style iron hooked heel-plate, raised spur to lower tang, double set triggers and horn fore-end tip with no provision for ramrod, light surface corrosion to exposed metalwork
