dated for 1872, with blued 30 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, ordnance proofs and marked 'STEEL' at breech, plain receiver marked 'III' on the nocksform and with swing open breech signed 'B.S.A.CO' on the top-face and with sprung thumb-catch, plain signed and dated lock also with a crown and 'V.R.' device at tail, non-rebated hammer nose, walnut full-stock iron furniture, sling-swivels, bayonet lug and jag-tipped clearing-rod
