circa 1870, with tapering round 32 1/2in. barrel, the top near breech with script signature 'JOHN RIGBY & CO, DUBLIN & LONDON' (some surface corrosion), provision for ball-starter (absent), dove-tailed block mount at muzzle for an adjustable fore-sight now fitted with a later tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, short sighting rib and screw-plug at breech, plain borderline engraved top-tang with screw-mount for a vernier aperture sight (absent), borderline engraved bar-action lock signed 'JNO RIGBY & CO,' (traces of colour), chequered walnut half-stock with pistol-grip, the heel with further mount for a back-position sight, iron furniture except moulded horn grip-cap and fore-end tip, no provision for ramrod
