for 1866, with expertly rebrowned fine damascus 29in. barrels, raised flat top-rib matted for most of its length bar a central section signed 'ALEX'R HENRY 12 SOUTH ST. ANDREWS ST. EDINBURGH PATENT NO. 836', long bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with shallow folding leaf, recoloured border and scroll engraved breech-blocks with engraved platinum plugs, recoloured fully scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved recoloured bar-action locks signed in banners below the forward-facing bolted safes 'ALEX'R HENRY', reverse 'C' scrolled dolphin hammers, chequered walnut pistol-grip half-stock with expertly reblued furniture, re-colour hardened grip-cap with central trap, brass mounted ebony ramrod, the whole restored to a very high level
Provenance: Donald Dallas's publication 'Alexander Henry, Rifle Maker' lists this rifle as a best .451 double and was one of a consecutive numbered pair produced for Charles Lancaster, presumably for retail
