A CASED 40-BORE 6-SHOT PERCUSSION TRANSITIONAL REVOLVER, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number, circa 1850, with 6 in. octagonal sighted barrel with Birmingham proof-marks, cylinder with border engraving, numbered chambers and Birmingham proof-marks, frame, bar-hammer, trigger-guard and back-strap engraved with scroll-work. hinged butt-trap with engraved shell design, chequered wooden grips, worn with some blinded pitting, right hand grip cracked through the spangle top to bottom, 12 1/2 in. overall length, together with a solid red-felt lined case with brass furniture, lining worn and pealing, lid warped and does not close, no key, external measurements 14 1/4 in. x 3 in. x 7 in.
