AN 8mm CONTINENTAL GLOBE-RESERVOIR AIR-RIFLE, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
probably German circa 1840, with slender octagonal 22 1/2in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with moulded foot, border and acanthus leaf engraved squared action with offset side-hammer and valve, the underside of valve with detachable wing-nut keeper in lieu of globe (globe absent), chequered walnut butt-stock with raised cheek-piece and wooden lidded trap, engraved iron heel-plate, double set triggers with raised lower tang to the iron guard and iron under-barrel ramrod in plain thimbles applied directly to barrel
