circa 1864, 30 7/8in. black powder only bold damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151 NEW BOND STREET. LONDON. "PATENT BREECH LOADER"', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, left wall at 16, Charles Lancaster patent slide-and-tilt action with rotary-underlever and recessed breech face, non-rebounding back-action locks with high-spurred hammers of hare's-ear form, the breasts of the hammers hitting the strikers, best bold acanthus scroll engraving, the lockplates with 'C. LANCASTER LONDON PATENT' in scrolling banners, the action bar with 'CHARLES LANCASTER'S PATENT', the triggerguard tang with three strolling cock pheasants, 14 3/8in. figured stock, fore-end with cross pin release and light horn finial, some bruising, weight 7lb. 1oz.
