A FINE CASED .451 PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 1628,
no. 2 of a pair produced in 1867 for the Duke of Marlborough, with rebrowned damascus 30in. barrels, raised flat top-rib matted bar a central section signed 'ALEX'R HENRY 12 SOUTH ST. ANDREWS ST. EDINBURGH PATENT NO. 1028' and 'No.2', applied elongated bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, reblued breech-blocks with white metal plugs, fully scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action locks (traces of original finish) signed in banners below the bolted safes 'ALEX'R HENRY', carved and engraved hammers of 'C' form, figured chequered walnut pistol-grip half-stock, iron furniture including scroll engraved patchbox, chequered heel-plate and engraved trigger guard, under-barrel ramrod, well restored condition throughout except where noted and in its maker's oak storage case relined in red baize, original trade label re-applied and including a mould, capper, Bartram flask and other sundries
