for 1874, with round 20in. barrel, the top with signature and patent dates to 1866 (rubbed but legible), 'L' shaped notch rear-sight, fore-sight integral with the barrel-band, brass receiver, missing forward section of extractor, no provision for peep-sight on the top-tang, saddle-ring to left hand side, walnut butt-stock, heel-plate with central trap, iron under-lever with later larger finger-loop, walnut fore-end, iron barrel-band and full length magazine, some older refinishing and shallow pitting on iron parts
