A .577/450 MARTINI HENRY MARK IV PATTERN C SERVICE RIFLE SIGNED ENFIELD, no visible serial number, dated 1888, with 32 1/2 in. sighted barrel with proof and inspection marks, falling block action, receiver with crown over 'V . R / ENFIELD / 1888', lock-viewer's mark, 'I.V. / I' with inspection marks over, full-stock, butt with carved 'H / 455 / 15' to right side, many parts with Broad Arrow, 'WD' and inspection marks, worn, marks on barrel worn, bridge with bruising, barrel-bands missing pins, front barrel band pitted with replacement screw, stock with heavy knocks and staining, plus losses at the junctions with the receiver and from the cleaning rod channel, toe of butt with large crack which has been badly glued back in place, butt-plate pitted
