A PAIR OF SCOTTISH SILVER-PLATED 25-BORE FLINTLOCK DRESS PISTOLS, UNSIGNED, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1890 and made for Highland dress, with sixteen-sided to round 7 3/4in. iron barrels, flaring octagonal muzzles with broad carved bands behind, moulded bands at breech, border and scroll engraved flat locks of typical form, engraved swan-necked cocks and carved frizzen springs, silver-plated metal full-stocks engraved with bordered panels, scrolls and geometrics, 'ramshorn' form grips with central thistle-form detachable prickers and exposed ball triggers, the left side with spring-steel belt-hooks
