A RARE PATTERN 1855 LANCASTER SAPPERS AND MINERS SWORD BAYONET, late 1850s, with 24 in. pipe-backed blade, ricasso with Kirschbaum 'knight's head' trademark on one side, with Solingen and Birmingham inspection marks over, brass cross-guard dated '2/86' pressed leather grips, brass pommel stamped 'M.S.C.' [Medical Staff Corp] with their serial number '3391', together with an associated period brown leather with brass fittings scabbard which is not original to the bayonet and is slightly to short for the blade
