A RARE .577 SNIDER MARK IV SERVICE ARTILLERY CARBINE FOR THE NEW SOUTH WALES PUBLIC SCHOOL CADET CORPS, no visible serial number,
dated 1885, with 21 1/2in. barrel with proof and inspection, Broad Arrow, 'WD' and 'sold-out-of-service' arrow marks, receiver bridge similarly marked together with 'III' mark from the donor rifle (the Mark IV Artillery Carbine being a cut down and modified Snider Mk III Rifle), shoe stamped 'B. S. A. Co.' plus Broad Arrow, 'WD' and Birmingham inspection mark, lock with crown over 'V.R' , 1861 / ENFIELD' and lock-viewer's mark, brass butt-plate with Broad Arrow and 'WD', front barrel-band with bayonet lug, full stock with right side of butt stamped '11.85' together with 'N. S. W / 348 / PSCC' (for New South Wales Public School Cadet Corps, gun no. 348) plus 'sold-out-of-service' arrows and 'AWM14209' (Australian War Memorial inventory number), complete with sling swivels and clearing rod with Broad Arrow, 'WD' and inspection marks
