A SILVER-MOUNTED INDIAN HUNTING KNIFE SIGNED AUSTIN, MADURVHOZARY,
late 19th century, with 10 1/2in. clip-point blade false edged for the last 6in. (small edge nick 4 1/2in. back from tip) the forte signed on the right hand side 'AUSTIN' over 'MADURVHOZARY', oval cross-guard with serpent-head forward and back quillions, fully rococo embossed pistol-grip hilt terminating in a zoomorphic stylised mask and fitted with a fine chain knucklebow, complete with its brown leather scabbard with en-suite drag and plain throat (some loss to leather exposing wood beneath, tested silver


Provenance: Madurvhozary is thought to be present day Maduravoyal in India. Austin is also recorded as working out of Trichinopoly
