A SCARCE .22 AIR ARMS COMBAT SIDE-LEVER AIR-RIFLE, serial no. 15733,
circa 1990, with blued 15in. barrel, squared alloy fore-sight with side protectors, blued air-chamber marked 'AIR ARMS' and with tap-action breech, blued side-lever, adjustable peep-sight to rear of air-chamber, black abs plastic paramilitary style three-quarter stock with full pistol-grip and dummy magazine, the underside of magazine drilled for a detachable storage magazine (absent), iron sling-swivels, appearing little used and fitted with its original black nylon webbing sling
Provenance: When The Sussex Armoury folded in the late 1980's, the company was divided up. Phoenix Arms took over the knife and replica guns side, the air-rifle production was acquired by Air Arms. Previously named Jackal, Air Arms soon introduced upgraded and better finished models based on the older designs. The Jackal Hi-Power was re-named the Combat (a name Sussex Armoury had only just introduced into the line-up before closing) and was basically a parts clear-up exercise. Few were sold and the model was discontinued around 1993
