A FINE CASED PAIR OF 80-BORE PERCUSSION TURN-OVER FOUR-BARRELLED TRAVELLING PISTOLS SIGNED TOWLSON, MARLBOROUGH & NEWBURY,
serial numbered '147', circa 1835, with London proved 3 1/4in. barrel groups, each with bead fore-sights and screwed plugs (one plug-head lacking), radiused border and scroll engraved colour hardened boxlock side-hammer actions each with bolted safe (one thumb-piece lacking), the top-plates of actions signed 'TOWLSON, MARLBOROUGH & NEWBURY', finely chequered walnut bag-shaped grips bearing the serial number in the wood at toe, white metal butt-caps with centrally stored collapsible ramrods, blued and engraved trigger guard bows with flat fronts pulling back to unlock barrels for turning, much colour and finish remaining to both and in their original mahogany case, lined in dark green velvet and with a small size powder flask, oil bottle, wad punch and nipple-key
