A RARE .577/450 (M/H) MARTINI-HENRY SERVICE CAVALRY CARBINE, no visible serial number,
dated 1880, with 20 1/2in. sighted barrel with Broad Arrow, 'WD', inspection, proof and 'sold-out-of-service' marks, tilting block action, receiver bridge stamped 'S-X', right side of receiver marked 'ENFIELD / 1880' (no other details visible), full walnut stock, butt with a heavily impressed '17' and 'sold-out-of-service' mark, some parts with Broad Arrow, 'WD' and inspection marks, actions correctly, worn, all metalwork with rust patches (some heavy) and varying degrees of pitting, sight-cover screws have been cut off flush with the stock, front barrel-band screw broken and frozen, clearing rod a crude replacement, barrel appears uncut, stock varnished, butt with filled chips where meets the receiver and sanded, removing all manufacturer's markings
