circa 1840, with rifled octagonal 4in. barrel signed on the top flat 'MANTON LONDON', Birmingham and London proof marks to underside, scroll engraved boxlock action with radiused edges and traces of original finish, engraved side hammer (flash-guard chipped), finely chequered walnut grip with vacant oval escutcheon and white metal lion mask pommel-cap, concealed automatic trigger and captive under-barrel iron ramrod, with a spring steel belt hook to the left side
