A RARE .550 J. GRAINGER'S PATENT CAPPING BREECH-LOADING RIFLE, no visible serial number,
dated for 1860, with 31in. barrel almost certainly converted from an Enfield Pattern '53, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the top of barrel marked 'J. GRAiNGER'S PATENT' (faint, rubbed), small bolt-action swing-out breech to the right side, bar-action borderline engraved lock to the left with external hammer and stamped with a crown and date, walnut full-stock, iron furniture including two barrel-bands and jag-ended clearing-rod
