A RARE 12-BORE SNIDER-BRAENDLIN PATENT SPORTING RIFLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1870, with 26 1/4in. heavy round barrel, the flat sighting plane signed 'H. HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND ST. LONDON', engraved band at muzzle, shallow ramp and blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, each with platinum centre-line, flip-open Snider Patent breech locked shut by the Braendlin Patent hammer with attached firing pin, border engraved colour hardened lock signed 'H. HOLLAND', figured chequered walnut half-stock with iron furniture including spurred lower tang with chequered tip, moulded horn fore-end tip and eyelets for a sling, much finish and faded colour remaining
