circa 1876, 27 3/8in. slightly shortened bold twist nitro reproved barrels, the rib engraved 'W. & C. SCOTT & SON. MAKERS AND PATENTEES 10 CASTLE STREET. REGENT CIRCUS. LONDON' (rubbed and with illegible pre-address inscription) and with a later stamped '433' and 'EBL' shield at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, W. M. Scott patent quadruple-grip action, patent no. 186 of 18th January 1875, extended standing breech with carved percussion fences with opposing crossbolts, Purdey double bite snap, patent no. 1104 of 2nd May 1863, use number 6579, rebounding sidelocks, fine acanthus scroll engraving with some beaded bordering, retaining traces of colour-hardening, 14 1/2in. replacement stock, the fore-end with W. M. Scott patent 'key' fore-end release, patent no. 3756 of 1873, weight 7lb. 10oz.
